Beth Massi has a video, #9 in the Getting started with Lightswitch series. In Visual Studio I can not follow the steps that she outlines. I create a "New Data Screen" as outlined in the video but I no longer have the ability to go to the table and set the default screen. Instead, the use as Default Details Screen is only available when creating a "Details Screen", and the code covered by the video does not work in the initialize workspace method of that kind of screen.

I tested this,I can create an addAndEditNew Screen that can Both Edit and Add Records in a LightSwitch Application using Visual Studio 2013.

After add a Browse Data Screen,Expand the Command Bar node, Click Add… to add a new button, then choose an existing method: addAndEditNew.
